Altery is a fintech platform that makes international payments simple and secure. With Altery, users can handle cross-border transfers, card payments, and bank transactions in more than 50 countries.

Challenge

Altery partnered with the Magnetto team to develop and execute a targeted marketing campaign aimed at driving high-quality traffic from Europe to its 2 products — the mobile application and the Telegram Mini App (TMA).

The campaign focused on three key audience segments:

  • Affluent users based in Europe. 
  • Users in countries like Nigeria who regularly send money to Europe, mainly the UK.
  • Relocants — for example, expats — looking for reliable and secure cross-border financial solutions.

The user acquisition funnel included the following stages:

  1. App install or TMA launch
  2. Phone number or email entry
  3. KYC completion
  4. Account activation
  5. First deposit

Solution

To achieve the client’s goals, we selected two advertising platforms: Telegram Ads and Telegram Mini Apps Ads.

What’s the reason?

Telegram Ads offer access to high-quality traffic with relatively low competition. Moreover, Telegram’s user base is already familiar with the Telegram Mini App ecosystem, which makes it easier for them to understand the product and take action — leading to higher conversion rates.

Meanwhile, Telegram Mini Apps Ads allows us to target Telegram Premium users who already have Wallets. This is a tech-savvy audience that is highly likely to be interested in the product.

To help Altery reach its goals, the Magnetto team built a full-funnel ad strategy — from precise channel selection to performance tracking and optimization. Here's how we approached it step by step:

Telegram Ads

1. To identify the most effective channels, the team developed several targeting hypotheses based on potential customer interests. These were created through competitor research, analysis of Telegram audiences (particularly users already engaging with similar solutions), and a review of relevant Telegram channels.

Using these hypotheses, we curated thousands of relevant Telegram channels aligned with our audience segmentation:

  • Banking and finance

  • Relocation and emigration

  • IT and technology

  • Crypto and blockchain

  • Freelancing and remote work

  • Travel and expat lifestyle

2. We crafted and tested over 50 ad copies, each tailored to the specific thematic groups listed above. We also added custom emojis to enhance visual appeal and engagement of our Telegram Ads creatives.

3. We launched over 300 ad campaigns using the principle of '1 ad for 1–2 channels,' with a unique tracking link for each. This approach allowed us to assess the effectiveness of each channel and more accurately identify high-quality traffic sources.

4. The client implemented a dashboard in Google Looker Studio that visualized data across the entire funnel — from clicks to KYC completion and further user activity.

Telegram Mini Apps Ads

1. TMA Ads' geographic targeting enables more precise user reach. We selected eight high-potential countries and launched ad campaigns in those regions.

2. The campaigns included both static banners and video creatives.

3. We also ran campaigns that excluded users who had already opened the Mini App. This helped prevent wasting the budget on repeated impressions.

Results

The Magnetto team delivered outstanding results that surpassed expectations across both platforms. We successfully generated thousands of targeted clicks across the Telegram ecosystem, optimized user acquisition costs per KYC-verified user, and built a robust funnel for future campaigns.

Mini App Ads delivered the best results per verified user across all traffic sources, while Telegram Ads showed a lower Cost per Mini App launch compared to the market rate in this category. According to Magnetto’s benchmarks, the average cost per Mini App launch is €1.5–3.
